Living the Word of God

Let’s Talk About Sex (Part I)

The goal of any relationship is to be married and have kids, to be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1:28). If you need a good reason for doing so, try this one: to prevent each other’s sexual desires to fornicate. The world was destroyed once because of lasciviousness (Genesis 6:5-7). But because there is so much sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman should have her own husband. The husband should fulfill his wife’s sexual needs, and the wife should fulfill her husband’s needs (1st Corinthians 7:2-3 NLT). In other words, fair exchange is no robbery.

If you don’t communicate to your partner what pleases you sexually, and if you don’t try to please your partner, somebody else will. Let this be the reason for wandering eyes. However, if he does what pleases you (or tries to) then you should do the same for him. It’s bad enough that we all want to be free to do what we want. But that freedom does not mean you sex everybody you meet. You know the saying “all money is not good money” it’s just the same as sharing multiple partners. All sexual encounters are not necessarily good sexual encounters. Plus you can get in trouble having sex with the wrong person. Having a stalker or a nightmare on Elm Street doesn’t bring peace. Don’t you realize that your bodies are actually parts of Christ? Should a man take his body, which is part of Christ, and join it to a prostitute? Never! And don’t you realize that if a man joins himself to a prostitute, he becomes one body with her? For the Scriptures say, “The two are united into one (1st Corinthians 6:16-17 NLT).

No wonder why all these crimes are reported on the news. You are running around with two different partners with 12 different personalities. We must learn to exercise constraint. One way to exercise constraint is to channel that sexual energy into something creative. Who knows, you might become rich in doing so.
