How to teach men to grow(up)? Through the witness of another man will a man put away childish things.
“Iron sharpens iron,
and one man sharpens another” (Proverbs 27:17).
If the man respects the one who sharpens because of his position, his achievements or by the “toys” he accumulated, the desire to “be like Mike” will resonate in that man’s spirit giving him a desire to do what was witnessed or prophesied to him. He will try to rise to the level of maturity so that he can receive the same blessings of that respected man who sharpens him. If he has a wandering eye, then one who also has a wandering eye can’t minister to him the scripture that helped me.
“Never speak harshly to an older man, but appeal to him respectfully as you would to your own father. Talk to younger men as you would to your own brothers. Treat older women as you would your mother, and treat younger women with all purity as you would your own sisters” (1st Timothy 5:1-2 NLT).
If you exercise these principles, the wandering eye becomes subject to the higher power. Let the Holy Spirit convict the man while you patiently wait in expectation of the end results – for him to find the beauty in you.
