Attack The Root Of Your Problems

For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. Rom 6:7 NLT

A great many of our problems comes from the thoughts we think and the company we keep. Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.” 1st Corinthians 15:33 NIV The devils’ schemes are so subtle and cunning that he drops little bits of evil into our spirit through video games and TV shows which leads us as a society to change and adapt new beliefs about the sins that were once taboo. When TV was originally in the black and white form, you would never see a woman in her bra and panties. There are not many shows that aren’t perverted in some way nowadays. Need I say there’s plenty of sex on TV? We as a society have openly accepted it as the norm. The devil has used those things we were once embarrassed to talk about in public and made them so mainstream that sinning could be viewed as normal. God forbid! For he has set a day for judging the world with justice by the man he has appointed, and he proved To everyone who this is by raising him from the dead.” Acts 17:31 NLT That Man is Jesus.

In the Old Testament, the penalty for sin was immediately administered. In today’s day and time, God has made a way for us to escape sin and allowing us to get back in His grace avoiding the penalties of sin when we confess our sins.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1st John 1:9 NKJV

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Hebrews 12:1-2 NLT

There is no new sin in your life. Every temptation is directed to the areas of your weakness. What you are weak at? Have you ever taken the time to look over your past life analyzing the good times versus the bad? If you noticed, most of all the bad times came upon you as a result of some sin you committed. When that sin came upon you, you had an opportunity to put it under your feet but you bowed to the pressure and committed the sin. Did you notice that you are not tempted by everything but a selected few areas? For instance, I’m not a thief therefore I can never be tempted to steal. Since early in my life (age 7) I always had opportunity to create money. In the early 70’s I had at least $30.00 a week in my pocket. I was probably the richest Negro kid in my neighborhood. In my thinking process, it was never about lack – it was always about having more than enough to meet my needs and the ability to share with others. With that being said, my mindset isn’t to covert my neighbor’s goods or that I will never have enough because in has been proven in my life over and over again that God will meet my needs and I trust Him to do so no matter what. Therefore I can’t be tempted to steal.

You have to look at your life and discover the areas of your weaknesses. Once you determine what they are, then you should settle it in your heart and in your mind that you will not fall victim to those desires. If you have a lust towards sex, it’s just a matter of correcting your thinking about the act. Instead of looking at a man or woman as an object of desire, look at them as if they were a family member like your mother or father or brother or sister instead of a sex object. You wouldn’t have sex with them would you?

God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin. Then each of you will control his own body and live in holiness and honor—not in lustful passion like the pagans who do not know God and his ways. Never harm or cheat a Christian brother in this matter by violating his wife, for the Lord avenges all such sins, as we have solemnly warned you before. God has called us to live holy lives, not impure lives. 1st Thes 4:3-7 NLT

If sex is one of the areas where you fail and are constantly being tempted, consider the people you associate with as a hindrance to putting that sin under your feet.

But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.1 Cor 5:11 NIV

In the spiritual world, demons are passed on from people to people like the common cold.
