I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. Luke 10:19 NIV
Authority is the ability or strength with which one is endued, which he either possesses or exercises.
Power in this case is considered power for performing miracles.
A translation might look like this:
God has given you the authority, ability and power to snuff out all the powers of the enemy and restore the people who were affected by their works. [MY TRANSLATION]
When you received the Holy Spirit, that power and delegated Authority was given to you to carry on where Jesus left off.
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:8
If you don’t say anything but what you hear the devil saying to you, then, nothing will change for you until you start saying the right words. Stop the devil in his tracks SAY SOMETHING POSITIVE.
And I have put my words in your mouth
and hidden you safely in my hand.
I stretched out the sky like a canopy
and laid the foundations of the earth.
I am the one who says to Israel,
‘You are my people!’” Isaiah 51:16 NLT
Why do you suppose that God wants you to speak the words written in the scripture? In order for you to get the results He intended when He inspired the written words from the Bible. You have to speak them. The power lies in the Authority of the Words you speak.
Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. Luke 9:1
Evidence of the disciples getting the same results that Jesus had is displayed in the Books of Acts.
But Peter said, “I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!” Then Peter took the lame man by the right hand and helped him up. And as he did, the man’s feet and ankles were instantly healed and strengthened. Acts 3:6-7
What I don’t understand is why would you let your friends, family and other relatives suffer when you have the Authority to speak healing or deliverance over their situation AND EXPECT GOD to heal them? I’m just saying, if that was the reason why Jesus died on the cross for us, it only makes sense to take full advantage of it, right?
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5
