Most people lose hope and give up on their plans when faced with opposition from their friends or loved ones or when guilt, fear, or condemnation attacks our emotions, we tend to shy away from pursuing what rightfully belongs to us. The devil’s is doing a good job when he clouds our judgment and robs our motivation to move forward. What a thief! In case you don’t know, this part of the devils job description was listed in his resume.
Under the “Objection” section of the devil’s resume it states:
To Steal, Kill and Destroy Mankind
The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life (John 10:10 NLT). What a contrast. The Lord gives while devil takes away.
Listed under “Skills” include:
For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies (John 8:44 NLT).
I’m here to tell you that there is a scripture and remedy for all of life’s woes. If there is a positive, there is a negative; where there’s good, there is bad; if there is light somewhere, elsewhere there is darkness.
When someone this close to our emotions knock us down, it can be very hard to brush yourself off and get back up. When it happens, it’s a sign that the devil has employed some “temporary bodies” to do his bidding. Being aware of this lets me know that you are just a step away from making the devil leave you alone and reaching your goal. The Bible says Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7 NIV). The key is at the beginning of the scripture “submit yourselves to God” for what darkness can exist where there is light? Consequently man can’t serve two masters. How can a thief rob your house when you are sitting there in front of the door in your favorite chair with a shotgun in your hands? If you are fully submitted to God, the devil can’t occupy the same place in your thoughts. Whatever we think of becomes the actions we take.
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise (Philippians 4:8 NLT) Have you ever noticed that when you get off of this line of thinking, negative thoughts enter in to fill the gap?
Think like this: “I can do all things thru Christ which strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). Although obstacles will come, you have to consciously harness thoughts that will help you overcome them all. Sometimes guilt plays a role in our not achieving our dreams. Follow me on this. You are either serving God the Father who owns the cattle of a thousand hills (Psalms 50:10) or you belong to your father, the devil, (John 8:44) who comes to steal, kill and destroy. (John 10:10) You chose whom you will serve. However, as a child of God, you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood. (1 Peter 2:9) You have a right to opulence as a child of God.
Fear is another trick of the devil to immobilize us from achieving our plans and dreams. You just got to keep on reminding yourself that it’s not by your intellect, social status or whatever you have that will get you to the end and realization of your goals. It is, however, by the grace of God. So really, no one can stop you from achieving your goals, except you.
Then he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of hosts (Zechariah 4:6 ESV).
When you constantly think of God and His goodness towards you, sometimes your mind will wander and think about your problems again. All of a sudden, the LORD appears and says to you: “I am the God of your father, Abraham,” he said. “Do not be afraid, for I am with you and will bless you. I will multiply your descendants, and they will become a great nation. I will do this because of my promise to Abraham, my servant.”(Genesis 26:24). When that happens, sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. Your Co-Pilot is at the wheel. God bless you. Speak the Word.
