We have several mighty weapons at our disposal which will defeat and to overcome all the powers of the enemy, who is the devil.
To take our stand against the devil’s schemes we have the whole armour of God as listed in Ephesians 6:14-18: “Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints. (ESV) We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. 2 Corinthians 10:4 (NLT)
We have the Name of Jesus. Philippians 2:10-11 says: “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth; And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. (Mark 16:17-18)
We have the Word of God, which is the Bible. Jeremiah 1:12 says: “Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.” Many examples are given in the Bible of men and women who used the Word of God to defeat the enemy. I take you to the desert where Jesus was tempted by the devil found in Luke chapter 4:3-11,
And the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.”
But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’ ” This scripture is found in Deuteronomy 8:3.
And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for [this] has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. “Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.”
And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ” The act of worship is found in Deuteronomy 6:13 as well as in other places.
Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here. “For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you,’ “and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’ ” (Luke 4:9-11) Even the devil knows how powerful the Word of God is because he tried to deceive Jesus by quoting scripture but here’s what happened…
And Jesus answered and said to him, “It has been said, ‘You shall not tempt the LORD your God.’ ” This scripture is found in Deuteronomy 6:16.
We have the power of prayer.
Mark 11:24 says: “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive [them], and you will have [them].”
Jeremiah 29:12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And James 5:16 says: “Confess [your] trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”
If you used all those abilities and still haven’t received your breakthrough, there is still one more. I submit to you thanksgiving and praise.
By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of [our] lips giving thanks to his name. Heb 13:10
Have you ever noticed how your whole countenance changes when someone starts to thank and praise you? We were made in His image so if it changes your heart, imagine what it does to the Lord God when you praise and worship Him from your heart. Won’t He rescue you from all your troubles? One of the weapons we have at our disposal when going to battle against the devil is praise. Remember, Lucifer was the Anointed Cherubim of Praise. If anyone knows how to get to the Lord God’s heart through praise and worship is him. Praise is so powerful, that the devil wanted that feeling of someone praising him for himself and that’s what led to his demise. Praise has a way of breaking through barriers of opposition (yokes) laid before you to steal your joy. Lord knows it’s hard to praise God when everything is coming against you. That’s why they call it a sacrifice of praise. It’s only a test you’re going through. What we call “having a bad day” is just old’ slue foot (the devil) trying to make you change your positive confessions and affirmations to the negative so that he moves you off your stand of faith. When the smoke clears and you realize it’s just a trick of the devil, Praise the Lord. Sing a song. Continue making your faith confessions and watch the devil run. We are admonished to “resist the devil, and he will flee.” (Jam 4:7) whatever you are going through, God is the only one who can bring you out. Keep the faith in His promises to deliver you (Ps 34). Prove this for yourself, the Word works. Have a blessed day.
