Living the Word of God

Self Check (if you dare)

In order for something good to come into your life, you have to release something of equal value. If you want friends, be friendly. If you want good health, exercise, eat well and rest. The body regenerates itself at rest. If you need money you need to release money. Money, if you squeeze it too tight, it runs away from you.

Here’s an example from the following Parable in Mark Chapter 4:3-9 from the New International Version NIV) of the Holy Bible.

3) “Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed.

Your money is a seed. The words you speak are seeds. What are you saying about your money? Do you know when you talk good about something or someone you are actually blessing them? Consequently, when you speak negative about them you are cursing them. In the Covenant the Lord made with Abraham (our Forefather) The Lord made this promise: “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” (Genesis 12:3) This same blessing and curse holds true for you and me today.

Neither you nor I know who’s saved or who belongs to the Lord by looking at them. What gives us the right to curse anyone? If faith comes by hearing, what you say out of your mouth, you believe and eventually will receive. So if you are cursing someone, that curse comes upon you.  Scripture says: “Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!” (Heb 13:3) Also look at Romans Chapter 12:14 “Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.” Get the picture? If you bless, you can expect blessings.  If you curse, you can expect curses to show up in your life.  Can you see that you are receiving exactly what you sowed or spoke about your situations? See Deuteronomy Chapter 28, which describes the blessing and the curse. Let’s move on.

4) As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up.

When you hear something that you know will change your life when you implement it, but as soon as you are about to leave, you forget it. The devil stole that idea and you can’t recall it even if your life depended upon it. When you hear what you were looking for, it’s important to immediately block out all distractions until you write it down.  It’s easy to say, hard to do if you are not expecting a miracle. Because it happens so quickly Then the LORD replied: “Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay. (Habakkuk 2:3-4 NIV) Remember we are talking about sowing seeds or releasing words to manifest a specific outcome.

5-6) Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root.

Have you ever heard this statement: “Beginners Luck?” Anyone can have a great start, but to succeed time and time again you have to dig in and settle down for the long haul. Wonder why relationships don’t last? Because either one or both of the parties has it engraved in their hearts that if it don’t work out, they will get a divorce. Not only that, they begin to speak negative (cursing) words to effect this deeply rooted escape clause concocted by themselves personally whenever there is a misunderstanding. If you sow positive, you get positive. If you sow negative, you get negative. Where is your backbone? Without one the devil will give you an out and there you go. Or have you ever done something for someone and instead of them appreciating you for doing it, you feel like they are taking advantage of you, then you become hesitant about doing for them or anyone else? This is the devil at work trying to harden your heart to sowing love or kindness. The Bible says: “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.” (Prov 4:23) So in whatever you do, if you do it with all your heart, you will succeed. In every endeavor, if you build a solid foundation, it will weather any storm.

7) Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain.

This is about bitterness and everything that callous the heart = the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things. If the important thing about your life is money over love, then whatsoever things that may be good for you will be “choked out” from your hearing because you are too busy chasing after other things called distractions. Some say: “Slow down.” Others say: “Take a deep breath.” If you do them both, you can actually see your family or notice things that have been there for a long time but were blinded to your sight because you didn’t have time to look or enjoy them.

8) Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, some multiplying thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times.”

You spoke right words. You built a strong foundation based on love. You dug in and implemented things like patience, forgiveness, kindness, giving, amongst others. You wrote a plan and prayerfully anticipated something that will propel your dream into reality. When it shows up, it’s just another one of the blessings that are part and parcel of the Lord’s plan for your life. The most important thing is you slowed down enough to enjoy it.

9) Then Jesus said, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”
